Making the switch over to eco-friendly products can seem overwhelming, and even expensive. However, it doesn’t have to be! This list has my favorite environmental switch overs that I use almost every single day.

Makeup Eraser

Whereas I used to use makeup wipes or pads with makeup remover everyday, I now just use one product to do the job. I bought my first Magic Eraser early 2018 and couldn’t have been happier with the change. Considering that 1.3 billion wipes are used daily, this seems a great alternative. I also love this product because I have very sensitive skin and I was always having swelling and skin redness issues with makeup removers. I love that I can remove all my makeup with just water. I use the wipe in sections so it lasts me about 1-2 weeks before needing to be washed. Not to mention the Magic Eraser is 100% vegan and cruelty free. Tip: get the pink instead of black so it's easy to tell when your wipe is fully used and needs a wash. The Magic Eraser lasts between 3-5 years and is machine washable.

Reusable Coffee Filters and Pods

Rather than using a new pod every morning only to throw it in the garbage, consider saving money and waste by getting a reusable filter pod instead.

A Well-Made Tote Bag

At the beginning of last year I got into the habit of always carrying a tote bag in my purse. Living in a city like NYC, it’s hard to know if I’ll come across something to buy and want to go without plastic. Even now during quarantine, rather than going through endless bags, I have my tote bag which is washable and then grocery bags for heavier objects that I can easily wipe down.

Reusable Produce Bags

Gone are the days of reaching for plastic produce bags! Like a tote bag, these can easily be washed as well and save countless plastic bags.

Reusable Cotton Dish Towels/Napkins

If it doesn't have to be single-use, let's find a replacement. Using cotton dish towels is a great and easy substitute to paper towels and you can throw them in the wash repeatedly.

Reusable Straw and Utensils

Something about drinking through a straw brings to mind sitting in a crowded cafe, enjoying an iced coffee and people watching. Next time you hit up your local coffee shop for an order don't forget to throw your straw into your bag.

Collapsible Mug

For on-the-go coffee needs this collapsible mug was the perfect item, not to mention some places offered discounts if you brought your own cup. However, in this new world of COVID I don’t imagine companies accepting them anytime soon. Still, I love to carry it around for a walk enjoying coffee then being able to throw it in my bag.

Compostable Garbage Bags

Switching to 100% compostable was an easy switch and they're almost half the price of Glad bags. No brainer switch!

Reusable, Non-Plastic Meal Prep Containers

Instead of adding more plastic, grab some glass meal prep containers for a non-toxic solution.
